Just add water and your next adventure. That is the whole idea behind Pronto, our first Specialty Instant Coffee. True specialty coffee, anywhere. All you need is hot water.
Pronto is a whole new category for Fratello, and one of the most exciting projects we have worked on in years. Roasted in Calgary and packed into a single serve 4 g packet. Tear it open, pour in 8 to 10 oz of hot water, stir, and you are drinking real specialty coffee on a ridge in Kananaskis, in a hotel room or at your desk.
A new category: Specialty Instant Coffee
You already know what a great cup tastes like. The peach in a well made co-ferment. The berry sweetness of a sun dried Ethiopian natural. The comfort of Godfather Espresso™ on a slow Saturday morning.
The trouble has always been the moments in between. The early start at the trailhead. The hotel room with a kettle and nothing else. The Tuesday when there is simply no time to grind, weigh and pour. Specialty Instant Coffee is our answer for those moments, and we made it without asking you to settle for less. No grinder. No scale. No filter. Just the coffee.
One you know by heart, two you have probably not met yet
Godfather Espresso™ is the familiar one. It has been the blend Calgary reaches for for more than 40 years, and now it fits in a jacket pocket.
The Ethiopian and the Colombian are something else entirely. Both are rare, limited lots, and most of our clients have not had the chance to try them yet. Coffees like these usually wait for a slow pour over, which not everyone has the time or the gear for. Pronto changes that. If you love our coffees, this is the easiest way to taste two of the most unique coffees we have offered this past year: microlots with specialty processing, ready in seconds.
Our first three offerings

Godfather Espresso™ Classic · $13.99 CAD
For more than 40 years, Godfather Espresso™ has been the blend Calgary reaches for. The same milk chocolate and caramel, the same smooth, rich cup you know from the bag. Lovely black, and even better stirred into hot milk at camp. If you only pack one, pack this.

Ethiopia Sidamo Natural · $14.99 CAD
This lot placed in the Top 7 at Ethiopia's Cup of Excellence. It comes from the Shantawene washing station in the Sidama Highlands, grown on the Daye Bensa farm at 1,900 to 2,400 metres under a natural forest canopy. The cherries are hand picked and sun dried whole on raised beds for 14 to 18 days, which is where the berry sweetness comes from. Expect red berry and lemonade up front, then plum, tropical fruit and a finish like red wine. Let it cool a little and it keeps opening up. Limited quantities.

Colombia Pink Bourbon · $17.99 CAD
This is the Peach Pink Bourbon from Finca El Paraíso in Cauca, where brothers Diego and Alexander Bermudez push fermentation further than almost anyone. The coffee is co-fermented with carefully selected cultures, then their Thermal Shock process (rapid hot and cold water treatments) stops fermentation at its peak and locks in the fruit. Peach, pink lemonade and tropical fruit. A coffee like this is usually saved for a slow pour over at home. Now it fits in your backpack. Read the full story of El Paraíso and the Peach Pink Bourbon.

Wherever there is hot water
A ridge in Kananaskis. Row 23 on an early flight. The cabin porch before anyone else is up. The 2 pm slump at your desk. True specialty coffee can come along for all of it: anywhere, anytime, anyplace.

- Kananaskis and hiking. Flat, light packets slip into a hip belt pocket. Summit coffee without the extra weight.
- Camping. Boil water, stir, done. No wet grounds to pack out, only the empty packet comes home.
- Travel. Hotel rooms almost always have hot water. Now they have great coffee too.
- Airplanes. Ask the crew for a cup of hot water and enjoy a real specialty coffee at 35,000 feet.
- The office. Keep a few in your desk drawer for the afternoon meeting that runs long.
How to make it
One packet. 8 to 10 oz of hot water. Stir. Use 8 oz for a fuller cup, 10 oz for a lighter one. That is the whole recipe.
Know someone who only drinks instant?
Pronto might be the easiest way to share what you love about specialty coffee. No gear, no brew guide, nothing to figure out. Hand them a packet and a mug of hot water and let the cup do the talking.
