I found this article very interesting as my husband and I just returned from a trip to a coffee plantation in Pereira. We found the farm to be quite interesting and we were able to learn a bit about the process of growing, the picking of ripe cherries, the sorting and drying procedure, etc. Also, we have some video of the farm and great photos. We were given a pound of coffee directly from this farm, not a mix of different beans from the region, to take home. It was purer than any coffee I have ever tasted here in Canada, from the "Colombia" coffee sold here. We were able to meet the coffee pickers and watch how they pick the ripe beans...it is quite an art...I would like to learn more about coffee and the cupping process, if you ever have a workshop I would be interested...or if you are hiring for any positions in regards to coffee exports, sales, cupping techniques...I am a coffee lover and I speak Spanish, which may be of some benefit....plus I have connections in Pereira in regards to this farm we visited...San Juan, it was called.
